Sturgeon Lunar Eclipse Tea and Piscolabis

Join us to behold the Sturgeon Moon in a deep partial lunar eclipse, on a granite outcrop, high above Eaton Canyon, and overlooking the entire city of Los Angeles, all the way to the ocean ~ sitting with the cliff faces and forest as they transition through sunset to moonrise - the eclipse will peak at 9:12 PM.

The Moon appears red during totality because sunlight scatters through Earth's atmosphere, effectively projecting all of Earth's simultaneous sunrises and sunsets onto the lunar surface.

The evening will include ceremonial tea for aromatic degustation, thoughtfully prepared tisanes, candlelight, music, and a spread including fresh focaccia, imported olive oil, and charcuterie. Arrive with enough time to settle into the landscape before sunset, and enjoy a gentle return home afterward—guests on tight schedules can expect to be back in La Cañada around 10:30 PM after the short mountain descent.

Why the Sturgeon Moon ?

The name  was coined by Indigenous Algonquin tribes in North America to mark the time of year when giant lake sturgeon were most abundant and easily caught in the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain

Important Information

Please ensure to bring adequate warmth for the evening forest chill, expect light breeze. Floor coverage and lighting will be provided. It is recommended to bring a journal for reflection.

There will be no cellular service once you enter the mountains, there is only one turn. Please load your directions before ascending. The road is windy, drive safely and beware of motion sickness.

There is plentiful street parking at location.
